Blackout Eclipse fully lives up to his catchphrase by making use of the fact that Kaiju are now sentient and intelligent by simply haunting, scaring and terrorizing their enemies from inside their mind to unsettle them for an easier fight.
"Fear-Fueled" weapons and equipment[]
Using the prototypical "Inception Device", Blackout Eclipse jacks into the minds of Kaiju and makes them see figures they associate with pain, be it a bigger Kaiju harassing the target in the Breeding Grounds, a Precursor ready to purge a disobedient Kaiju or the picture of multiple Jaegers charging towards it to attack. The Kaiju's fear is greatly increased if the illusion of pain is accompanied by actual pain, e.g. attacks that are synchronized with the illusions are extra effective and increase a Kaiju's fear by a great amount, so timing the illusions is key. For example, the "Attack by a bigger Kaiju" illusion gives Blackout's pilots ten seconds to strike. Of course, no illusion lasts forever but most Kaiju are heavily wounded at the time they realize they are in fact facing one single Jaeger. To inflict said heavy wounds, Blackout Eclipse is fitted with dual Predator Claws. These long, curved blades can cause heavy flesh wounds and even pierce Kaiju armor, but most importantly even fold around a clenched Jaeger fist by folding up on multiple hinges to not only cause blunt damage but also bleeding cuts by a single straight punch.
The newly developed Torment Cannon launches heavy projectiles that drill themselves into Kaiju flesh upon impact and can release portions of a painful neutotoxine either instantly or via remote. This shoulder-mounted weapon is highly effective even if not used in combination with the "Fear-O-Tron" (as it's been called by some), although the Geneva Convention is discussing the morality of "Tactical Torture" at the moment.
The unstable Magma Core delivers the enourmous power needed to activate the Inception Device. Heat and radiation are uncontrollalby leaking through the Jaeger's body and left arm, not endangering civilians or rangers but helping with the "spook factor"
Pilots and deployment[]
Since Blackout Eclipse's experimental weapons would cause an uproar of activists all around the world, it's development was kept secret for a long time. Same goes for Đorde Živkovic and Michal Spetzca. These two war veterans - one being a stoic, sadistic gunman and the other a cool-headed tactician - were both trained in absolute secrecy until they entered service.
