The ZN-416M is the aquatic variant of Geissele Custom's ZN-416 Balthazar HESJ(Hazardous Environment Superiority Jaeger). Like other ZN-416 variants, it is built to order and fielded in small numbers by the PPDC and eco-terrorists.
History[]
Theft and Torrington[]
In early 2019, the first three ZN-416M's destined for the PPDC disappeared when their transports were ambushed 1 hour out of Geissele's Tel Aviv headquarters. This escalated into a red alert for the PPDC, as the Balthazar Marine was a top-priority asset and could never, in any circumstance, fall into enemy hands.
The stolen Balthazar Marines would resurface at Torrington two months later as the eco-terrorists' primary assault jaegers. Over 50 GPM-89 Sentinels, Mk.18 Geronimos and AGG-45 Gwui-Shins guarding Torrington were wiped out by three ZN-416M's piloted by relative novices. Not a single Balthazar was lost, although all three were incessantly hammered at by three GPR-09S units and Torrington's most powerful ordnance. Security footage depicted these machines cleaving apart hordes of PPDC mechs while shrugging off a hailstorm of rockets, missiles, grenades, torpedoes and plasma bolts with superficial damage
Neptune Fury[]
The three ZN-416M's were naturally present in Antarctica when the PPDC initiated Operation Neptune Fury.
One unit detected five GPM-89V Hammerheads closing in whilst patrolling underwater. It dove to a safe distance and launched its left-hand claws toward an unsuspecting Hammerhead, skewering it through the chest. This was then swung, like a flail, into another approaching GPM-89 with enough force to rupture its cockpit. The Balthazar then fired up its water jets while reeling in its victim, simply plowing right through it and into a third Hammerhead, which was cleaved in half with a single claw swipe. The two remaining Hammerheads were bound together and bludgeoned against an iceberg before getting their reactors surgically ripped out.
Another ZN-416M went online later into the assault, at a time when GPM-89's and AGG-45's were swarming in. As with Torrington, the PPDC grunts were chopped up and blasted to pieces, to the point where marshals requested a Shadowfortress attack. The 501st STDD unit that had called the shots an hour earlier responded with three bolts from its mega-beam sniper.
